About the author
Angela DiTerlizzi is an award-winning New York Times and USA Today National bestselling author of books for children. She is beloved by parents, children, booksellers and educators worldwide for sharing empowering and inspiring stories that spark conversations about growth mindset, perseverance, curiosity, mindfulness, and positive self-esteem.
In 2013, her debut picture book, Say What?, was featured in over one million boxes of Cheerios as a part of the General Mills Spoonfuls of Stories program, an initiative that gave away millions of bilingual children’s books inside boxes of the popular breakfast cereal. Her second book, the award-winning Some Bugs, was published one year later to numerous starred reviews and named one of Buzzfeed’s Best Picture Books of 2014. Eric Carle, the legendary author and illustrator of over 70 children’s books, including The Very Hungry Caterpillar, said the book was “A delightful combination of pictures and words that will captivate readers.”
Since then, Angela has published over a dozen more books, many of which have been named to Best Books of the Year lists by Amazon, Book Riot, Buzzfeed, The Today Show, and the prestigious Bank Street College of Education.
Prior to her career making up stories, Angela was making up faces. She spent over 15 years as a make-up artist in the film, television, and music industry, working with countless celebrities, musicians, and even a former President of the United States. Her credits include, MTV, VH1, E!, Conan O'Brien and most notably, her time spent on Saturday Night Live and The Today show.
In April 2020, Angela released The Magical Yet; a picture book about a 'Yet' _ a supernatural companion that helps children when faced with setbacks and learning frustrations, to see failures as opportunities – promoting patience and perseverance, encouraging and providing a powerful reminder that nothing comes without effort. The Magical Yet has been called “the perfect tool for parents and educators to turn a negative into a positive when helping children cope with the inevitable difficult learning moments that we all face. Whether a child or an adult, this encouraging and uplifting book reminds us that we all have things we haven't learned ... yet!”
The Magical Yet, and its sequels, The Curious Why, a companion book that encourages children to embrace curiosity, and The Marvelous Now, a primer in emotional regulation and mindfulness, have gone on to sell hundreds of thousands of copies, been translated and published in multiple languages, and are celebrated by educators around the world.
Angela and her husband, #1 New York Times best-selling author/illustrator, Tony DiTerlizzi, and their dog, Pippin, divide their time between Amherst, Massachusetts and Jupiter, Florida while their daughter is off at college.
